Determine Battery Capacity
First, please take a look at your battery label, user manual or bike's technical specifications, you may find the battery capacity of your electric bike in battery volts and amp hours. Then, you can calculate the Watt hours (Wh) capacity of your ebike battery.
Formula: Battery Volts x Amp Hours = Watt Hours
Estimate Power Consumption:
It’s important to understand that your ebike has two completely separate (but complimentary) drive systems:
1. a pedal system you power by pedaling yourself
2. an electric drive system that powers the bike through the controller and/or throttle
Typically, it is estimated that an e-bike battery offered for one mile of travel per 4-35 Wh of energy. You may consider your battery have a minimal energy consumption approximately 4 Wh per 1 mile traveled. The maximum energy consumption is approximately 35 Wh per 1 mile traveled.
Factors That Affect Range
Ebike range depends on a variety of factors including such as battery capacity, terrain, average speed, rider weight, tire pressure, wind conditions, speed, level of pedal assist or throttle usage, and even temperature.
Finally, by dividing the battery capacity by the power consumption, you'll get an estimated range in miles that the electric bike can travel on a single charge under ideal conditions.
Keep in mind that actual range can vary based on real-world conditions, so it's good to consider a margin of error when estimating the range of an electric bike battery.
